Ingredients for Strawberry Base

  • 1 cup frozen whole strawberries
  • 6 tablespoons tequila
  • 1/4 cup frozen limeade concentrate
  • 2 tablespoons triple sec
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • ⅓ cup coarse salt
  • ½ cup DIY Simple Syrup
  • ½ cup lime or lemon juice

Ingredients for DIY Simple Syrup

Simple Syrup is a name brand item that is often used in making cocktails and summer drinks. It’s also used for making candied fruits or adding as a syrup over desserts. The name truly tells a lot about this mixture – it’s incredibly simple. Just add 2 parts sugar to 1 part water to create a medium-based simple syrup. Making it homemade means you have control over the quality of sugar you use (hint: there is a difference! Don’t skimp and go with the cheapest sugar option).

  • 2 parts sugar
  • 1 part water

Directions

Place four 8-ounce glasses in freezer. Place ingredients (strawberries, tequila, limeade concentrate, and triple sec) in a blender. Blend. Once ingredients are thoroughly mixed, add ice cubes and blend again. Let mixture sit.

In a separate sauce pan, create the simple syrup. Bring water to a boil and carefully stir in sugar mixture. Stir occasionally. Work mixture until sugar is completely dissolved in the water.

Pour simple syrup mixture into blender. Blend until smooth. Dip rim of chilled glass in lime or lemon juice, then immediately dip rim into coarse salt. Repeat until glass has coarse salt along edges. Pour mixture in each glass and serve immediately.

With minimal ingredients this recipe is also easy to make and (fairly) healthy for you. Check out our Frozen Lime Margarita recipe below!
