Ingredients for Homemade Snickers Bar:

For the base layer of DIY snicker bars:

–       1 cup dark chocolate chips

–       ½ cup white chocolate chips

–       ½ cup crunchy peanut butter

For the nougat layer of DIY snicker bars:

–       200g (1 cup) castor sugar

–       125ml (½ cup) glucose sugar

–       75ml (¼ cup) honey

–       1 egg white

–       125g nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews)

For the caramel layer of DIY homemade snickers bar:

–       359g tin condensed milk

For the top layer of DIY snicker bars:

–       1 cup dark chocolate chips

–       ½ cup white chocolate chips

–       2 Tbsp cream

Recipe Instructions:

  1. Grease a baking pan (20cm square is the preferred size) and then melt the base ingredients together in a pan or saucer. Use very low heat. Once melted together, place the mixture in the baking pain. Make sure to flatten and spread the mixture until it is even
  2. Let it cool before moving further.
  3. Now, create the nougat layer. Place the nougat layer ingredients in a pan and cook over low heat. Watch for the sugar to dissolve and then bring to a boil. Brush off any sugar crystals that may form on the sides of the pan. Bake for 5-10 minutes. If you have a cooking thermometer, check to make sure that the mixture is 230 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Once the sugar mixture has reached 230 degrees Fahrenheit (or it has been 5-10 minutes for those of you who do not have a cooking thermometer), beat the eggwhites into a large bowl. While beating, pour in this nougat layer mixture. Keep beating until the mixture becomes thick and holds it’s own shape. Now you can pour the nougat layer onto the chocolate base layer and flatten.
  5. Set the pan in a cool place (such as a fridge) while you move on to the last steps.
  6. The caramel layer is made up of the condensed milk ingredient. Pour the condensed milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat and cook. Next, pour this over the nougat layer and flatten.
  7. The last layer (the top layer) should be combined together and stirred over low heat in a saucepan. Then, just as before, pour this over the caramel layer and flatten.
  8. It’s best to try to keep the DIY homemade Snickers bar cold for 1-3 hours before serving to guests.

Enjoy!
